Since February 1, 2015, Dr. Bernd Montag has been the CEO of Siemens Healthineers, the company to which he has dedicated his entire career.
After joining Siemens in 1995, he held positions in corporate quality management and sales in the hearing aid division before moving to imaging systems in 1999.
He held several positions as a product manager for computed tomography and as the head of marketing for magnetic resonance business until 2004, when he assumed overall responsibility for computed tomography. In 2008, he was named CEO of the Imaging&Therapy Division, which combines the overall business of imaging diagnostics and image-guided therapies.
Dr. Bernd Montag was born on April 16, 1969, in Munich and spent his childhood and teenage years in Ottobrunn, a Munich suburb.
After graduating from secondary school, Montag began studying physics at the Friedrich Alexander University, Erlangen-Nuremberg, in 1988, where he discovered a passion for theoretical physics. He earned his doctorate in theoretical multi-particle physics between 1993 and 1995, with a focus on “metallic clusters.” At the same time he worked at the university as a teaching assistant.
Bernd Montag’s years as a basketball player were a major influence on his life. After being called up to the National Junior Team, he played in the first and second Bundesliga divisions until 1999.
Bernd Montag is married with three children. He jogs in his free time and enjoys reading when he finds the time.
